As we approach the end of Season 5 of DC's Legends Of Tomorrow, I thought it was the right time to bring this show to my blog. What is Legends Of Tomorrow? Well its part of the Arrowverse for starters, and based on characters in the DC Comics. As it has the connection of Arrowverse and DC, also comes with that is CW. CW is the network that airs all of the Arrowverse shows. As it is a spin-off from Arrow and The Flash, some of the characters that are on this show started on one of those shows. With the addition of a few others The Legends were born. In the beginning back on the second Season of The Flash, episode 8, Kendra Saunders is attacked by Vandal Savage (played by Casper Crump), Barry takes her to Star City to ask Oliver to help him protect her. There is a small crossover (we all know Arrowverse love a cross over) as on the very next night the story continues on Season 4 episode 8 of Arrow. Soon after in 2016 in a 2 part pilot for the new show, DC's Legends Of Tomorrow, a member of the Time Masters appeared, the organisation is the Time Bureau and are tasked with protecting the timeline. The Time Master that turns up is Rip Hunter (played by Arthur Darvill). He has gone rouge from the Time Bureau and is trying to track down and stop Vandal Savage. Vandal Savage is an ancient Egyptian immortal who has manipulated leaders throughout history, trying to gain total domination of the World. Rip has gone rogue as he has been effected by Vandal on a personal level, Vandal killed Rip's wife and child in 2166. So Rip has taken one of the Time Bureau ships, The Waverider, voiced and assisted by A.I. Gideon (voiced by Amy Louise Pemberton). Gideon is in the mainframe of the ship and therefore is the operating system that gives up to date news, past or present and is the brain of the ship. Rip travels back in time to 2016 and lands on trying to gain help and assistance on his quest for Savage. Rip tries to recruit some of the heroes that we see on the 2 shows, to form his team to go and destroy Vandal Savage and save his family. He recruits the following
Firestorm - Martin Stein and Jefferson Jackson (played by Victor Garber and Franz Drameh)
The Atom - Ray Palmer (played by Brandon Routh)
White Canary - Sara Lance (played by Caity Lotz)
Hawkgirl - Kendra Saunders (played by Ciara Renee)
Hawkman - Carter Hall (played by Falk Hentschel)
Heat Wave - Mick Rory (played by Dominic Purcell)
Captain Gold - Leonard Snart (played by Wentworth Miller).
Anyone that has watched the 2 shows would know that Heat Wave and Captain Gold are a couple of Super-Villians and have worked together on many jobs.
When i said above that Rip "recruits" the team, I will only say that i can't remember them saying "Yes Rip we'll help you!"
So as i said there have now been 5 Seasons with Season 6 signed up to air in 2021. Over the course of the 5 Seasons they come up against many strange circumstances as they travel back and forth in the past and future and there are also various cameos and possible team member switches too. This is a very light hearted part of the Arrowverse and has quite possibly made its way to be my favourite. The actors/characters have got very good chemistry and the show keeps producing good episodes and in turn, good Seasons, all with a good Season finale. Legends Of Tomorrow characters do also appear in the annual Arrowverse/CW crossovers too.
