Nicole Kidman

So Today Nicole Kidman is 53. The Australian actress was actually born in Honolulu, Hawaii, while her parents were there on student visas. She returned with her parents to Sydney, Australia when she was 4 years old. As a youngster she had a natural talent for ballet, then through her school years those natural talents extended to acting too. She would go on to attend Phillip Street Theatre in Sydney, where Naomi Watts was also a student. Due to her fair skin and red hair, she would be confined to rehearsing in the theatre halls, because of the powerful Australian sun.

The first break that Nicole got was on the 1983 remake of the Australian favourite, Bush Christmas playing Helen. She would start to gain the popularity in the 1983 movie, BMX Bandits as she played Judy, and later the racy scenes that she did in the 1986 Movie Windrider where she would play Jade. Later on in the 80's Nicole would appear in Emerald City, an Australian movie, which she won an award from Australian Film Institute for Best Supporting Actress for the role of Helen McCord. Then came the 1989 movie in which she played opposite to Sam Neill in Dead Calm, where she played Rae Ingram. The performance in this movie was the spark for the whole world to stand up and take note of this actress. Then Hollywood came knocking as she appeared alongside future husband Tom Cruise in the 1990 movie Days Of Thunder, playing Dr. Claire Lewicki. Then the movies in the 90's just kept on coming as the Kidman Express was non stop. Billy Bathgate, playing Drew Preston with Dustin Hoffman and Bruce Willis. Far And Away where she would share the screen with Tom Cruise again, as Shannon Christie. Malice playing Tracy alongside Alec Baldwin, Bill Pullman and Anne Bancroft. She has a DC Comics movie under her belt too as she played Dr. Chase Meridan in the 1995 movie, Batman Forever. In 1999 she was reunited with then husband Tom Cruise, to portray a Manhattan couple on a sexual odyssey, in Eyes Wide Shut Where she played the part of Alice Harford. This was to be Stanley Kubrick's final movie, and was subject to censorship controversies due to the explicit nature of the sex scenes. As the noughts rolled in so did the movie roles for Nicole. Moulin Rouge! was a 2001 hit as she played Satine, The Hours where she would portray Virginia Woolf. One of my favourite Nicole Kidman movies was to come in 2003, as she played Grace Margaret Mulligan in Dogville, which also has Lauren Bacall in the cast. in 2004 she plays the part of Joanna Eberhart in The Stepford Wives. She also plays the part of Isabel Bigelow/Samantha in movie Bewitched based on the 1960 TV show. She was part of an all star cast for the family, fantasy movie The Golden Compass where she would play Mrs. Coulter. 2011 would bring her to play Sarah Miller opposite Nicolas Cage in the thriller Trespass and in 2014 she would play Grace Kelly in the movie Grace Of Monaco, the same year popping up in the movie Paddington, as Millicent. 2016 would see Nicole play Sue Brierley in the biographical movie Lion. Another one of my favourite movies that star Nicole is the horror, mystery, thriller that is The Killing Of The Sacred Deer, where she plays Anna Murphy, alongside Colin Farrell. 2018 and back to a DC Comics movie as she would play Atlanna in Aquaman and early in 2020, we would see her play Gretchen Carlson in the biographically drama Bombshell.

Nicole has also appeared in many TV series or miniseries through her time, Five Mile Creek where for 13 episodes, she was Annie, and recently appearing as Celeste Wright in Big Little Lies for 14 episodes. The 10 episode miniseries Vietnam where she played Megan Goddard and the 6 part miniseries Bangkok Hilton, playing Katrina Stanton. And to that the uncredited appearance, well her voice anyway in the movie Panic Room and her voice was also to be used to bring Norma Jean to life in the animated movie Happy Feet.

Nicole has had a fair few relationships with fellow well known men, with the names Marcus Graham, Tom Burlington, Aiden Brody and Jude Law. Then came Nicole's first marriage. She would marry Tom Cruise in 1990, they would be married for 11 years until 2001 and couple have 2 adopted children Isabella who is 28, and Connor who is 25. After the divorce, she was again link with an array of men, including musician Lenny Kravitz, rapper, Q-Tip and Robbie Williams. In 2006 she would marry country singer Keith Urban, they are still married to this day and have 2 daughters, Sunday Rose, who is 12 and then Faith Margaret, who is 10. Faith was born via gestational surrogacy.

Nicole is not always in front of the camera as her exploits also include producer too, with 5 projects under her belt and rumours of many more in the coming years shows that she also seems to have a natural talent for that too.

The work away from movies has bought awareness to a number of causes, she has helped to raise money and draw attention to disadvantaged children from all around the world and in 1984 was appointed a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF and in 2004, she was honoured as a Citizen Of The World the the UN. She also joined the Little Tee Campaign for breast cancer care to design T-shirts or vests to raise money to fight the disease. in 2006 she was appointed Companion of Order Of Australia (AC) in the Australian Day Honours for all her charity work as well as to her service to performing arts. As you can see, this lady is a very special person that seems to be using her fame to help so many underprivileged people.

With the producing taking off, this doesn't mean that we have seen the last of Nicole on our screens, she is due to be in the TV series
