Today see the 58th Birthday of Emilio Estevez, The Actor that bought us the Mighty Ducks Movie series.
Emilio first hit our screens back in 1973, he was uncredited but appeared in Badlands back in 1973. The first "big" film that he got was when he played Otto in Repo Man back in 1984. This was a catapult for him to appear in The Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire, Stakeout, and Young Guns during the '80's as part of the Brat Pack (a nickname given to a group of actors who appeared together in coming-of-age movies) . As you must agree, a pretty impressive list of titles. This also continued in the '90's to with 2 of the above movies getting sequels to which Emilio was cast again. He then became Gordon Bombay in The Mighty Ducks Series, 3 movies about a misfit ice hockey team. in 2006, a movie that Emilio wrote, directed and acted in got a 7 minute standing ovation when it was premiered at the Venice Film Festival. The movie is called Bobby, and is about the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. Apart from this success Emilio hasn't really had many big hits since the series but he is about to re-fire the engines on Gordon Bombay in the TV adaptation of The Mighty Ducks. It will a re-boot/remake of the first movie. This is already being filmed, but no release date yet.
So Emilio was born in New York, he is the eldest of Martin Sheen's children, with his siblings being, Charlie Sheen, Renee Estevez, and Ramon Estevez, all who followed dad Martin into movies. He was also married for 2 years in the 90's to pop legend Paula Abdul, and has also had a brief engagement with Demi Moore. He has 2 children from a previous relationship who are in their 30's and is now also a Grandfather too.
An 80's icon that has given us some great performances in his roles
