This is a good family movie that comes with a lot of poignant messages that will give you a sense of reevaluation on the life we lead, in the world where we have a necessity for "instant". Disney have done a good job getting across a lesson we should all take upon ourselves
Leo Borlock (played by Graham Verchere) suffered some early tragedy in his early life. His dad had died while he was very young. His Mom Gloria (played by Darby Stachfield) had decided that they were to move to a quieter town, this town was Mica, Arizona. To stay close to his dad, Leo would wear a special tie, every day, every moment that his dad had worn. Leo noticed that things were that quiet that on his first days at his new school, Mica was a "very quiet" place indeed where nothing seemed to happen, he became the centre attraction. This attention came as school bullies actually cut his tie in half! On his 9th birthday a package arrived on his doorstep, he opened it to find a tie. This continued for the next 7 years. Now this is where the story kicks in. Leo has now mingled into the crowd and has become an unnoticeable person within the school, yes he plays the trumpet in the school band, but that was it. The school seemed to be on that losing streak that nobody wants, no trophies were won, no games were won, and they just accepted this.
Now on this 16th birthday, Leo goes to school and he sees "her" for the first time. By her i am referring to Stargirl (played by Grace VanderWaal), a quirky dressed girl with a backpack and ukulele sticking out of it. While Leo sits with his "unpopular friends" at lunch Stargirl comes to the table and begins to sing "Happy Birthday" to Leo. How did she know his name? and his birthday?
Lets just say that from this moment forward, things begin to happen!
