Star Wars

With today being the day that George Lucas, back in 1977 in American cinema's, introduced us to a young Luke Skywalker i thought i would try to review the middle section (Original) franchise known as Star Wars. I do hope I do not upset any big Star Wars fans. I’m sure I’ve captured the right way to get this across. Well here goes.

in 1977, Star Wars, as it was known then is the start of the middle of the story known as The Skywalker Saga. The middle sector of a trilogy of trilogies. George Lucas puts together a cast of people who later become household names including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher to name a few. The imperial Force are planning on building a space station called the Death Star, its a moon sized structure capable of destroying planets. Princess Leia (played by Carrie Fisher), secretly is one of the leaders of the Rebellion, manages to obtain plans of the plans for this. She is captured by the Sith Lord, Darth Vader (played by David Prowse). She manages to hide the plans in a droid called R2-D2 and tells him to find Obi-Wan Kenobi. R2 and another droid called C-3PO manage to escape in a pod, ending up on the planet Tatooine. Both driods find their way to Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill) via his Uncle, who is a moisture farmer that uses droids to work. While cleaning the droids a snippet of the message gets played, The only Kenobi Luke knows is old Ben, a hermit who lives on Tatooine. One morning R2-D2 wanders off into the desert in search of his chosen destination (Obi-Wan). Luke follows and they eventually find Obi-Wan, R2-D2 then plays a the full message from Leia for Obi-Wan. What adventures you will see from this moment! This movie later took on the full title of Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope

In 1980 came the second installment called The Empire Strikes Back. This one was written by Leigh Brackett, someone George Lucas had hand picked to write the sequel based on Lucas's story. This one is set three years after the first movie. The Journey continues for Luke, Leia and Han Solo (played by Harrison Ford) as they try to evade the merciless Vader. Luke has been set on a path to find the Force Spirit and goes in search of the Jedi Master Yoda. Yoda (voiced by Frank Oz) will train Luke so he is able to help in the fight against "the Dark Side". We are introduced to character like Boba Fett, a Bounty Hunter (played by Jeremy Bulloch), Lando Calrissian (played by Billy Dee Williams), the Governor of the Planet Bespin and a friend of Han Solo, and Jabba The Hutt. This movie is see break from the normal and is still a rare thing now, in the fact that as a sequel is seen to be more popular than the original movie. The movie later took on the title Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

In American cinema's, May 25th 1983 and 6 years to the day of the first movie, the third installment was given to us, Return Of The Jedi, with Lucas returning to writing along with Lawrence Kasdan. This movie is one year on from The Empire Strikes Back, and is the conclusion the the middle sector of the franchise. This movie comes with a lot of twists that i do not want to say, just in case someone has not seen it! It later take the full title of Star Wars Episode VI - The Return Of The Jedi

Really? Not seen The Original Star Wars Trilogy? if that is the case find a TV, a quite place, get yourself comfy, use a weekend if you have to and shut yourself off from the world for about 6 1/4 hours with these 3 masterpieces of cinematic genius.

My favourite of the three, has to be The Empire Strikes Back. I actually think, and i'm not what you would call a Star Wars expert, but I've seen that movie about 15 times in my life, and I've watched a lot of movies.

Fun Fact for you.

The first Movie, the one that started this all off, George Lucas was that sure that his creation would flop, that instead of attending the premiere for it, took himself on holiday to Hawaii. With the movie not flopping and still carrying strongly 43 years later with the brand, you might think Lucas made a mistake in going!? Well! this is George Lucas, nope, no regrets, as while he was there, he "bumped" into his good friend Steven Spielberg and they came up with the idea for Raiders of The Lost Ark
