So 20 years ago today, May 19th 2000 this movie was first aired in UK cinemas. It began the start of the Final destination series of movies that would last 11 years.
In this movie Alex Browning (played by Devon Sawa), is just your standard teenager that goes to Mt. Abraham High School in New York. The school has arranged a field trip to Paris for students and teachers. Alex is going, but the night before the flight from JFK, he is having trouble sleeping. All the students and teachers arrive in plenty of time to catch the Volee Airlines Boeing 747 Flight 180 to Charles De Gaulle, Paris. Alex seems to be a little worried about the flight, he become agitated on the walkway to board the plane. He eventually boards and finds his seat, but Christa (played by Lisa Marie Caruk) and Blake (played by Christine Chatelain) ask him to move seats, so they are able to sit together. Alex does move to allow the girls to sit together, he moves next to his best friend Tod Waggner (played by Chad Donella). When Alex sits down, he has a real to life experience of the plane taking off, circling NYC and then the plane has problems and it starts to tear up and eventually explodes, midair. Suddenly Alex comes around, it was all in his head! He'd been spooked! This then makes Alex want to leave the plane. He becomes involved in a scuffle with Carter Horton (played by Kerr Smith) and both get removed from the plane, along with Carter's girlfriend Terry Chaney (played by Amanda Detmer), late arrival Billy Hitchcock (played by Seann William Scott), best friend Tod, Valerie Lewton (played by Kristen Cloke), who is one of the teachers on board, and Clear Rivers (played by Ali Larter) just decides to leave. They are not allowed to re-board the plane. The plane takes off and......
I do like this movie's concept, i thought the actors, the plot and the screenplay were very good. The producers and directors have done really well with the "Easter Egg" clever bits within the movie, you just have to be focused and switched on to see them.
