Valiant Cinematic Universe! What do we know? Are they part of Marvel or DC? Well i hope that the below information helps to sort a few of these questions out
Valiant Comics was started in 1989 by former Marvel Editor-In-Chief Jim Shooter. The company was then sold to Acclaim Entertainment in 1994. AE declared they were bankrupt in 2004. In the ashes of the Valiant fire Valiant Entertainment was born 2005, this was the case up to 2018 where DMG Entertainment bought the rights. This is now where their movie exploits start
With over 2,000 active characters, there are enough to make a very good portfolio of films. In 2018 there was a deal struck with Sony to make 5 of these movies.
2 Harbinger Movies
2 Bloodshot Movies
Then Harbinger Wars (Sort of an Avengers or Justice League film)
The idea was to star with Harbinger for 2 movies, then move onto Bloodshot for 2 movies and cap that off with a get together movie. This is where the troubles first start. To produce the movie that would do Harbinger proud, it was deemed to be too expensive and so it was decided that they would build collateral by starting with Bloodshot
Cue, Vin Diesel being announced as the lead actor in the movie. While this was starting Sony decided to give up the rights to Harbinger, these are acquired by Paramount along with a whole host of other characters.
So now the initial idea of the 5 movie (phase 1) was shot, you could say BloodSHOT. Sony have said that they will continue to develop Bloodshot, while it seems Paramount picks up on the rest. Does this put us in the same dilemma we had with Spider-Man (Sony Again!) and Marvel. Well we do not know how this will pan out yet.
Bloodshot - First film in this Universe, I think it was a decent start, it was fast paced, dark (I mean its a bit violent) and produced well.
Next installment i believe will a Harbinger movie. When this will be, i do not know but if you also look for other titles being rumoured to be in development you will find
Archer & Armstrong
Faith
Eternal Warrior
Shadowman
X-0 Manowar
So as long as they carry on with the way Bloodshot was made, with a good storyline, good actors and a good producer, we could see the birth of a very good superhero/comic book franchise.
